I am a second year graduate student at the Earth and Planetary Science department at McGill University. I am also a member of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory and I work on understanding geochemistry and habitability of Mars using data from the Curiosity rover. A part of my research also deals with comparing geological processes on Earth and Mars. I study dry lakes of Death Valley in Southern California as a National Geographic Explorer (https://www.nationalgeographic.org/find-explorers/debarati-das) and use samples from the field site as analogues to understand Martian geochemistry better. I am also passionate about science outreach and have volunteered for the McGill Space Group as the Education Leader and am also currently a volunteering member for the charitable organization Let's Talk Science.
