I am a web designer and an amateur astronomy teacher. Since 2013, I have been doing an event called “Moonrise” on top of Mount Royal where we watch the Full Moon appear over the horizon.
In 2017, I received a telescope and began taking it into parks inside the city of Montréal. People would often walk up and ask to take a look and ask questions. I found there was a hunger in the public to learn more.
In spring 2018 I began Plateau Astro, a company that aims to teach about astronomy specifically in an urban environment. Most people assume that you need to be far outside the city lights to enjoy the sky. Plateau Astro wants to break this misconception by doing events, workshops, and bringing a telescope onto the city street.
